Nagpur: A 26-year-old Kerala resident was killed and two others were seriously injured after a speeding truck allegedly hit two pedestrians and subsequently rammed into a moped near Shalinitai Meghe Hospital in Nagpur’s MIDC police station area on Sunday afternoon.

According to the complaint filed by security guard Dhananjay Parasram Gaikwad (52), the incident occurred around 2 pm on September 20, 2026, on the road in front of the hospital’s old OPD.

The deceased was identified as Shamkrishnan PPK (26), while Aman KP (23) was injured. Both were residents of Theriyari, Maniyar, Kannur district, Kerala, and were currently staying as tenants at Matoshri Nagar in Wanadongri.

The two men were reportedly walking along the road when the driver of a truck bearing registration number MH-40-CT-3162 allegedly drove the vehicle at high speed and in a negligent and dangerous manner before hitting them.

Police said the truck driver did not stop and allegedly fled the spot. While escaping, the truck reportedly hit a moped bearing registration number MH-40-AH-4156, being ridden by Shraddha Vicky Vasekar (29) of Jaripatka.

All three victims suffered serious injuries. The complainant and other people present at the scene took them to Shalinitai Meghe Hospital for treatment. Doctors declared Shamkrishnan dead, while Aman and Shraddha are undergoing treatment.

MIDC police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver under Sections 106(1), 281, 125(a) and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 184, 177 and 134 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

PSI Sanjay Avchite is investigating the case. Police are attempting to trace and identify the truck driver.
