Nagpur: In a significant action, the MIDC Police apprehended a man for illegally possessing a deadly weapon near Akhari Bus Stop, Jayatala on April 27 around 8:00 PM. While patrolling the area, the police spotted a suspicious individual with a cloth covering his face, riding an Activa scooter. Upon questioning, he identified himself as Kishor Ravishankar Turankar, 25, a resident of Jayatala, Nagpur.
A search of his vehicle in the presence of witnesses led to the recovery of a sharp iron dagger worth approximately ₹500 from the scooter’s storage compartment. Police seized the dagger along with the Activa vehicle (MH-31-FN-2243), with a total seizure value estimated at ₹50,500.
Investigations revealed that Turankar was allegedly carrying the weapon with the intention to commit a cognizable offence. Accordingly, a case was registered against him under Section 4/25 of the Arms Act and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. The accused has been apprehended, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of DCP Lohit Matani and ACP Satishkumar Gurav, led by PI Mahesh Chavan, PSI Sanjay Bansod, and police personnel Vijay Jane, Ismail, and Sachin.
