Nagpur: Mankapur Police have booked a woman and her paramour for allegedly abetting the suicide of her husband following her extra-marital affair.
According to police sources, on February 17, between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Narendra Shyamrao Thakre (41), a resident of Plot No. 3, Khan Society, Godhni Railway, died by suicide at his residence by hanging himself from a ceiling hook in his bedroom. Initially, the Mankapur Police registered an accidental death case based on the statement of his family.
However, during the investigation, it was revealed that Narendra’s wife, Durgeshwari Narendra Thakre (35), and Rahul Manohar (45) were allegedly involved in an extramarital relationship. The duo reportedly conspired to mentally and physically harass the deceased, subjecting him to humiliation. Just eight days before the incident, they allegedly assaulted him, pushing him further into distress. The police found a suicide note left by the deceased, confirming his prolonged suffering due to their actions.
Following a complaint from Anil Shyamrao Thakre (43), the victim’s brother, Mankapur Police registered a case under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Acting swiftly, police personnel apprehended Durgeshwari Thakre, while efforts are underway to nab the second accused. Further investigation is ongoing.
