Nagpur: In a swift action, Kapil Nagar Police arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly carrying a sharp weapon with intent to commit a cognizable offence.
According to police sources, the incident took place on April 10, 2026, between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm, when a patrolling team received a tip-off about a suspicious individual roaming with a weapon in an open ground at Lendenagar. Acting on the information, police reached the spot and identified the suspect based on the description.
The accused attempted to flee on spotting the police but was apprehended immediately. Upon questioning, he was identified as Shrikrishna Shamaji Titirmare (40), a resident of Lendenagar, Kapil Nagar.
A search conducted in the presence of witnesses led to the recovery of a sharp iron knife concealed in his waistband, valued at Rs 250, which was seized.
Based on a complaint filed by Police Constable Sanju Bhushanam, Sub-Inspector Ranjit Rananware registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Maharashtra Police Act. Further investigation is underway.
