Nagpur: The Koradi Police in Nagpur have registered a criminal case against social media influencer Raviraj Sabale Patil, a resident of Ahilyanagar, for allegedly outraging the modesty and defaming Jyoti Bawankule, wife of Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekar Bawankule, through objectionable content posted on social media.

The complaint was filed by Hemlata Thakur (36), a resident of Shivaji Nagar in Mahadula. According to police sources, Thakur, who is considered a close associate of the Bawankule family, approached authorities after being informed about the alleged harassment and defamatory remarks directed at Jyoti Bawankule via online videos circulated by the आरोपी.

Officials stated that due to social stigma, the victim initially refrained from reporting the matter. However, Thakur reportedly collected substantial digital evidence, including video clips posted on social media platforms, before submitting a formal complaint to the Koradi Police.

Based on the complaint, police have registered offences against Sabale under multiple provisions, including Section 78(1)(ii) and 78(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (stalking), Section 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman), Section 356(2) (defamation), along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act pertaining to the transmission of obscene material in electronic form.

Police officials confirmed that further investigation is currently underway to verify the extent of the allegations and gather additional evidence in the case.
