Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a ₹11 crore cash reward for the Indian cricket team following their triumph in the T20 World Cup, on Friday, as reported by PTI.
The announcement took place in the central hall of the Vidhan Bhavan (state legislature complex), where the four Mumbai-based players from the victorious team—captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shivam Dubey—were honored.
Expressing his joy over the team's win against arch-rivals Pakistan in the World Cup, CM Shinde particularly lauded Suryakumar Yadav for his spectacular catch in the final match against South Africa.
Additionally, CM Shinde acknowledged the contributions of support team members Paras Mhambre and Arun Kanade by felicitating them. He also praised the Mumbai Police for their efficient crowd management during the victory parade held in south Mumbai on Thursday.
