Nagpur: Panic gripped the busy CA Road area on Tuesday morning after a cache of live explosives was discovered near Dosar Bhavan Chowk, close to a Metro station in the city. Police recovered 15 gelatin sticks, 58 detonators, and eight connectors from a bag found in the premises of a house located in what officials described as a sensitive zone.

According to police sources, a call was received in the morning alerting authorities about suspected explosives lying near the residence at Dosar Bhavan Chowk. Acting swiftly, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. During the inspection, officers found a bag containing the explosive materials.

Preliminary information suggests that the bag had been lying at the location for nearly one to one-and-a-half months. The matter came to light when gelatin sticks from the bag became visible, prompting the house owner to immediately inform the police.

Following the recovery, the explosives were secured and shifted to an undisclosed location to avert any potential threat. No untoward incident was reported, and the area was declared safe after a thorough check.

Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain how the explosives were brought to the spot and who is responsible for storing them in a densely populated and strategically important area near the Metro corridor. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
