Nagpur: In a major anti-drug operation, Kapil Nagar Police arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly possessing and intending to sell 121.63 grams of MD (Mephedrone) powder in Nagpur. The action was carried out under the Nagpur Police Commissionerate’s anti-narcotics campaign “Operation Thunder – Let Us Unite, Build a Drug-Free Society.”
According to police, at around 5:50 am on June 18, a Kapil Nagar police investigation team was on patrol when they received specific information about a suspect carrying narcotics. Acting on the tip-off, police laid a trap near the WCL Office Tribunal Court on the road connecting Kabir Nagar Chowk to Uppalwadi Post Office.
Police intercepted a Splendor motorcycle (MH-49-BN-7750) and detained the rider, identified as Tulsiram Ramnath Thakur (25), resident of Ambatoli, Samata Nagar, Jaripatka, Nagpur.
During a search conducted in the presence of witnesses, police allegedly recovered 121.63 grams of MD powder packed in ziplock pouches along with an electronic weighing scale. During questioning, the accused allegedly revealed that he had procured the narcotics for sale with the help of an associate, Gaurav Nandagawali (24), also a resident of Ambatoli, Jaripatka, who is currently wanted in the case.
Police seized MD powder, one mobile phone, an electronic weighing machine, ziplock packets, a motorcycle and ₹3,700 cash, with the total value of seized property estimated at ₹6.77 lakh.
A case has been registered at Kapil Nagar Police Station under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, senior officers of Nagpur Police and the Kapil Nagar investigation team.
