Nagpur: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Nagpur on June 19, 2026, to perform the Bhoomi Pujan for a state-of-the-art 10,000-ton Aluminium Extrusion Press at Yantra India Limited (YIL), Ordnance Factory, Ambazari.
The event is expected to mark a significant milestone in India’s defence manufacturing capabilities and will be attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar, along with senior officials from the Department of Defence Productionand Yantra India Limited.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the proposed aluminium extrusion press is being developed as a major national asset for the country’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. The facility is expected to significantly enhance India’s ability to manufacture large, high-strength and precision aluminium alloy extrusions, which are critical for defence and aerospace applications.
Officials said the project will play an important role in reducing India’s dependence on imports of key aluminium extruded components and contribute to strengthening domestic industrial capabilities.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision aimed at boosting indigenous manufacturing and increasing self-reliance in strategic sectors, including defence and aerospace.
The upcoming facility at Yantra India Limited is expected to support future defence requirements while reinforcing Nagpur’s role in India’s growing defence production network.
