Nagpur: Kapil Nagar Police arrested a 55-year-old man for allegedly carrying a deadly weapon in violation of prohibitory orders during a late-night patrol operation.
Police said that between 9.40 pm and 10.15 pm on May 29, a patrol team received specific information about a suspicious individual near the BSNL office in Kapil Nagar. Upon reaching the spot, officers spotted a man matching the description.
As police approached, the suspect allegedly threw an iron knife to the ground and attempted to flee. The police team chased and detained him.
The accused was identified as Shivlal Rajua Ahirwar (55), a resident near Gosavi Akhada, Rani Durgavati Chowk in Pachpaoli. During the search, police seized an iron knife valued at ₹200 from his possession.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Hathiyar Act and Maharashtra Police Act for possessing a weapon with the intention of committing a cognizable offence and violating prohibitory orders. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
