Joint Operation by Crime Branch Unit 04 and Nandanvan Police: Vehicle Thief Arrested, 6 Two-Wheelers Recovered

Nagpur: In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Branch Unit 04 and Nandanvan Police carried out a joint operation and arrested accused involved in multiple vehicle thefts, recovering six stolen two-wheelers worth approximately ₹1.7 lakh.


According to police, the incident dates back to the night of March 18, 2025, between 9:30 PM and March 19, 2026, 12:00 PM. Complainant Shubham Rajesh Vaidya (29), a resident of B-1/03, Venkatesh Nagar near Sheetla Mata Temple, KDK College Road, Nandanvan, Nagpur, had parked his Honda CB Trigger (MH-49-Z-2553), valued at ₹20,000, outside his house after locking it. An unknown thief stole the vehicle. Based on his complaint, Nandanvan Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against an unidentified accused.


During the parallel investigation, officials from Crime Branch Unit 04 and Nandanvan Police received credible information that a man named Salman Khan, a resident of Hasanbagh, Nagpur, was involved in stealing two-wheelers in the Nandanvan area and was searching for buyers. Acting on the tip-off, police reached near Sheetla Mata Temple on Umred Road, where they spotted a suspect matching the description. Upon noticing the police, he attempted to flee but was chased and apprehended.


During questioning, the accused identified himself as Salman Khan Sher Khan (30), a resident near Moti Masjid, Hasanbagh, Nandanvan, Nagpur. He confessed to stealing the aforementioned vehicle.


Further interrogation revealed that, in addition to the reported theft, the accused had stolen five more two-wheelers—three from Nandanvan jurisdiction and two from Wathoda police station limits. He had hidden all the stolen vehicles in bushes in an open ground near KDK College T-point.


Police recovered the following six stolen vehicles from his possession:

  1. Honda CB Trigger (MH-49-Z-2553)
  2. Hero Honda CD Deluxe (MH-31-EV-4406)
  3. TVS Scooty Pep (MH-31-DB-8936)
  4. Honda Activa (MH-49-Y-3621)
  5. Black Hero Splendor (MH-31-BL-8471)
  6. Hero Honda Splendor (MH-31-AN-9322) with blue and silver stripes

The total value of the seized vehicles is estimated at ₹1,70,000.


The accused has been arrested, and four vehicle theft cases related to the recovered vehicles (Nos. 1 to 4) have been solved. Efforts are underway to trace the owners of the remaining two vehicles (Nos. 5 and 6), and further investigation is being carried out by Nandanvan Police.


This successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioners Rahul Maknikar (Detection) and Rashmita Rao (Zone 4), and Assistant Commissioner Abhijeet Patil (Crime Branch).


The team included Senior Police Inspector Kailas Deshmane, Police Inspector Nanda Mangate, Sub-Inspector Vaibhav Barange, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Jitesh Aravelli, Pravin Raut, Pradip Kaite, and other staff members including Nilesh Dhone, Dinesh Jugnahake, Purushottam Jagnade, Satish Thakre, Ajay Yadav, Prakash Rajpalliwar, Bhagwati Thakur, Atul Chate, Devendra Navghare, Govind Deshmukh, and Someshwar Ghugal, who jointly executed the operation.
