Nagpur: A tragic road accident in Hingna police jurisdiction claimed the life of a 55-year-old man, while a minor girl sustained serious injuries after a speeding car rammed into their motorcycle and fled the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Deorao Narayan Uike (55), who was riding a motorcycle (MH-31-BS-9211) along with his 12-year-old niece, Akshara Vijay Sarate. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM on March 23, 2026, between Kanholibara and Khadki, near Takalghat, in front of Vastuland Developers.

According to the complaint filed by Suraj Deorao Uike (28), a resident of Khadki, the accused driver of a car (MH-40-CX-3647) was driving at high speed in a rash and negligent manner when he hit the motorcycle and fled without offering help.

Both victims were thrown off the bike and sustained severe injuries. Locals rushed them to AIIMS Hospital, where doctors declared Deorao Uike dead on arrival. The injured girl was initially treated at a primary health centre in Kanholibara and later shifted to AIIMS Nagpur, where she continues to receive treatment.

Hingna Police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, including rash driving and causing death by negligence. Further investigation is ongoing.
