Nagpur: Indian Railways recently issued a recruitment notification for filling vacancies across various zones, divisions, and workshops in both Non-Technical Popular Categories and Technical Categories.

The notification was issued through 21 Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) across the country. Posts such as Assistant Loco Pilot, Station Master, Train Manager, Junior Engineer, Technician, Commercial Clerk, Track Maintainer, Pointsman, and departmental assistants in mechanical, electrical, civil, and signals & telecommunications were included in this recruitment drive.

This week, from 25th to 29th November 2024, the written examination was conducted at 346 centers across 29 states and 156 cities in three shifts each day.

The exams were scheduled to accommodate approximately 1.22 lakh candidates per shift, amounting to around 3.68 lakh candidates per day, with a total of 18.4 lakh candidates expected to appear over five days.

However, the actual turnout was approximately 73,000–77,000 candidates per shift, translating to around 2.22–2.30 lakh candidates per day.

A total of 11,40,931 candidates appeared for the exams, while 6,99,416 registered candidates were marked absent. The RRBs successfully conducted the exams for 62% of the registered candidates.

A notable achievement of this examination was the successful verification of 10,42,955 candidates (91%) using UIDAI's Aadhar-based authentication (Fingerprint and IRIS).

It is important to note that on the first day of the examination (25.11.2024), a lower percentage of Aadhar authentications occurred due to AUA connection/server issues.
