Nagpur: A family’s visit to a prayer service turned into a nightmare when burglars broke into their locked house in Kapil Nagar and stole valuables worth ₹2.06 lakh here, on Sunday, December 1.
The complainant, Chittaranjan Vidhyadhar Avnikar, a 64-year-old resident of Quarter No. B/09, NIT Quarters, Kapil Nagar, Uppalwadi, reported that the incident occurred between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. He and his family had locked the house and gone to Samta Nagar Church for a program.
According to police sources, taking advantage of the family’s absence, unidentified culprits broke the lock on the main door and entered the house. They looted ₹5,500 in cash and gold and silver ornaments from a metal cupboard.
Following Avnikar’s complaint, Kapil Nagar Police have registered a case under Sections 305(A) and 331(3) of the BNS.
The police are working to identify the culprits and recover the stolen items. Further investigations are underway.
