Nagpur: An elderly cyclist was killed after being struck by a speeding Aapli (city) bus near Vihirgaon Turning, under Hudkeshwar Police Station limits, on Wednesday, November 27 at approximately 6:00 PM.

The victim, identified as Gautam Chirkut Lokhande, 64, a resident of Umbergaon, Nagpur, was cycling to work when the incident occurred. 

According to police sources, the driver of the city bus, bearing registration number MH-31-EM-0396, allegedly drove recklessly and hit Lokhande’s bicycle, causing severe injuries.

Lokhande was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment but was declared dead on arrival by doctors.

Following a complaint by the victim’s younger brother, Munna Chirkut Lokhande, 58, Hudkeshwar Police registered a case under Section 304(A) of the BNS against the bus driver. L
