Nagpur: The city police have granted permission and announced traffic diversion for a foot march proposed by the Bharat Mukti Morcha under the leadership of its president Waman Meshram on February 22, 2026, from Indora Maidan to Samvidhan Square.
The organisation had earlier applied to take out a rally from Indora Maidan via Indora Chowk to the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Nagpur. The proposed march was aimed at protesting the denial of permission for a convention in Odisha and to press for demands including a caste-based census for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), among other issues.
However, authorities declined permission for the route leading towards the RSS headquarters, citing law and order considerations. Following this, the organisers submitted a revised proposal seeking approval for an alternative route from Indora Chowk through 10 Number Pulia, Kadbi Chowk, Gaddigodam Chowk and LIC Chowk, culminating at Samvidhan Square.
Police have approved the revised route, allowing the rally to commence at 12 noon from Indora Maidan and conclude at Samvidhan Square. Officials clarified that the procession will not proceed towards the RSS headquarters and will instead end at Samvidhan Square.
In view of the march, citizens have been advised to avoid routes passing through Indora Chowk, Kadbi Chowk, Gaddigodam Chowk and LIC Chowk on February 22 and to use alternative roads to prevent traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement across the city.
