Nagpur: Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has achieved an impressive milestone in scrap sales, significantly contributing to the railway’s revenue generation. In January 2025 alone, the division recorded ₹2.18 crore in scrap sales, showcasing effective management and the sustainable reuse of railway assets.

The breakdown of the scrap sale is as follows:

• Rails: 418.646 metric tons (MT)

• Points and Way (PWAY): 80.620 metric tons (MT)

• Ferrous Scrap: 175.00 metric tons (MT)

• Non-Ferrous Scrap: 77.573 metric tons (MT)

As of the financial year 2024-25, the total scrap sales for the division have reached ₹38.50 crore, underscoring the positive impact of this initiative on the railways’ overall revenue.

This achievement highlights Central Railway’s dedication to both environmental conservation and economic efficiency, further cementing its role in the sustainable growth of the sector. By optimizing the reuse and recycling of railway materials, the division contributes not only to the economy but also to greener practices in the railway industry.
