Nagpur: A case has been registered against a customer, Eshwar Dhirade, at the Sakkardara Police Station for assaulting and abusing Amol Shelke, an outsourced employee of MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) here, on Wednesday, November 27. The incident occurred when Shelke visited the customer’s residence to recover overdue electricity payments.
According to details, the incident took place on Monday, November 25, near Sakkardara Lake Garden. Shelke had gone to collect the pending electricity bill at Dhirade's residence. Despite knocking and calling out, he received no response. Consequently, Shelke proceeded to disconnect the electricity supply by opening the meter’s terminal box. At this point, Dhirade reportedly intervened, abusing and assaulting Shelke while attempting to prevent the disconnection.
The customer allegedly smashed Shelke’s mobile phone during the altercation. Following a complaint by Shelke, the police have filed a case against Dhirade under Sections 115(2), 352, and 324 of the BNS, 2023.
Sakkardara Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
