Nagpur: Amid the ongoing severe heat wave sweeping across Nagpur, another suspected sunstroke-related death has been reported in the city after an unidentified man was found unconscious near Wathoda Ring Road on Tuesday morning.
According to Wathoda Police Station officials, the man, believed to be around 40 years old, was discovered lying near the footpath close to Smit Bar at around 8:40 AM on May 20, 2026.
Local residents alerted authorities after noticing the man in an unconscious condition during the intense morning heat.
Declared Dead at Hospital
Police shifted the man to Medical Hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors declared him dead after examination.
While the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed through medical procedures, the incident comes at a time when Nagpur has been witnessing extreme temperatures and heat wave conditions, raising suspicion of another possible sunstroke fatality in the city.
Identity Yet to Be Confirmed
The deceased has not yet been identified, police said.
Based on information provided by Udaram Mahadev Pathrabe (77), Sub-Inspector Sagar Gaikwad registered an accidental death case. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death and establish the identity of the deceased.
