68-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run at Khaparkheda; Bike Rider Booked

Nagpur: A 68-year-old man lost his life in a hit-and-run incident in the Khaparkheda police station limits on the evening of February 13.


The deceased, identified as Shrikrishna Balaji Dhoke, a resident of Madhavani Layout, Bhanegaon, was returning home on foot after attending a nearby function. While crossing the road in front of his house around 6.30 pm, he was allegedly struck from behind by a speeding motorcycle (MH-31-DG-6271).


Police said the rider was driving rashly and negligently and fled the scene after the collision. The impact reportedly threw Dhoke against a parked truck, causing grievous injuries. Family members rushed him to Max Hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examination.


Based on a complaint lodged by Yashasvi Shrikrishna Dhoke (23), Khaparkheda Police have registered a case against the unidentified motorcycle rider under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.


Further investigation is in progress.
