Nagpur: In a significant achievement for law enforcement, Zone 4 of Nagpur Police has reported zero street murders in April 2025, a month historically marked by high violence and often referred to as “Bloody April.” This remarkable milestone is being attributed to strategic, evidence-based policing and consistent daily foot patrolling in vulnerable areas.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), Rashmita Rao, confirmed the development, stating, “The goal of achieving reduced crime rate and zero street murders in April 2025 was deliberate and strategic. Through data-driven policing and intensified patrolling, particularly in high-risk zones, we ensured proactive prevention of serious crimes.”
The achievement stands out particularly as Zone 4 covers several high-density and sensitive regions in Nagpur, including areas under Ajni, Sakkardara, Beltarodi, Hudkeshwar, and Wathoda police stations.
According to the official press note, the total number of serious crimes reported in Zone 4 from January to April 2025 decreased significantly—773 cases were registered, compared to 946 during the same period in 2024. This reflects a decline of 173 cases.
According to official data, notable drops were observed in several categories:
• Murder cases dropped from 12 to 11
• Housebreaking cases fell from 121 to 104
• Robberies reduced from 26 to 16
• Chain snatching from 9 to 5
• Dacoity 2 to 0
• Vehicle theft from 181 to 153
• Theft cases from 287 to 226
• Fatal road accidents from 40 to 19
• Rape cases dropped from 25 to 19
• Fraud from 54 to 45
• Other cases from 169 to 79
Officials noted that the sharp drop in serious crimes is the result of continuous crime analysis, rigorous patrolling, deployment of beat marshals, effective use of CCTVs, and focused action against repeat offenders.
Senior police officials have praised the efforts of all police personnel involved. The leadership has commended the station in-charges of all police stations within Zone 4 for their role in achieving these outcomes through disciplined planning and swift execution of preventive measures.
Moving forward, DCP Rashmita Rao assured that the police will continue their commitment to public safety with strengthened surveillance, targeted interventions, and community-oriented policing.
