Youth Assaulted, Robbed of iPhone and Scooter After Confronting Harasser of Female Friend

Nagpur: A 22-year-old youth was allegedly assaulted and robbed by a group of seven youths after he went to confront a person who had been repeatedly calling and harassing his female friend. The incident took place near Rani Durgawati Square under the jurisdiction of Pachpaoli Police Station in Nagpur.


According to police, the complainant, Rameez Ahmad Mobeen Ahmad (22), a resident of Mankapur, had gone to meet the youth allegedly troubling his female friend through repeated phone calls on Thursday night. However, upon reaching the location, he was allegedly intercepted by Keval Koche (21), a resident of Yashodhara Nagar, along with six of his associates.


Police said the accused deliberately rammed the victim's Suzuki Burgman scooter (MH-31-FZ-2556) before physically attacking him. The group allegedly assaulted Rameez with punches and kicks, leaving him injured.


During the attack, the accused allegedly snatched the victim's iPhone 13, valued at approximately Rs 20,000, and fled from the scene. The scooter and mobile phone together are estimated to be worth around Rs 80,000.


Based on the victim's complaint, Pachpaoli Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to robbery and voluntarily causing hurt.


Police have arrested the main accused, Keval Koche, while a search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend his six absconding accomplices.


The incident has raised concerns over rising street crime and violence in the city. Further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and the role of each accused in the attack.
