Nagpur: In a heartwarming gesture, members of the Wildlife Welfare Society presented a brand-new bicycle to a 10-year-old boy who survived a snakebite incident in Borgaon Bela village, Nagpur district.

According to officials, Ayush Nagose was bitten by a snake while playing near his home around 6 pm on September 12. He was given first aid locally and rushed to Nagpur Government Medical College and Hospital (Medical) with assistance from the Wildlife Welfare Society. After intensive treatment, Ayush was discharged on Monday.

During a follow-up visit, society members learned that Ayush lives with his six-year-old brother and grandmother. Both parents had passed away a few years ago, and the family struggles with financial hardship. Moved by his story, the Wildlife Welfare Society gifted Ayush a bicycle to bring him joy and support his daily needs.

For years, the Wildlife Welfare Society has been working selflessly across Nagpur district to raise awareness about snakebites and save lives, often without any external financial aid. The organisation has guided and assisted hundreds of snakebite victims to timely treatment.

The bicycle was presented in the presence of society members Nitish Bhandakkar, Anand Shelke, Prajwal Ambadare, Aditya Shastrakar, and Soham Bhandakkar, along with Medical Superintendent Dr. Avinash Gawande and personnel from the Maharashtra Security Force.

The society appealed to citizens to remain vigilant during the monsoon season and seek immediate medical help in the event of snakebites, underscoring its mission to protect lives through awareness and timely action.
