Nagpur: In the culture of Maharashtra, both Navratri and Dhammachakra Pravartan Din hold immense significance. Millions of devotees and followers participate in these festivals, and the entire atmosphere is filled with enthusiasm, faith, and joy. To ensure this joy remains uninterrupted, MSEDCL has made temporary electricity connections available for public festival committees at domestic rates.
The First Step to Safety: An Official Electricity Connection
The electricity supply for festival lighting, elaborate decorations, pandals, community meals (Mahaprasad), and other events must only be arranged through authorized electrical contractors. Illegal and unauthorized connections pose a high risk of short circuits or other serious accidents. Therefore, MSEDCL has clarified that temporary electricity connections will be provided to committees as soon as they apply, without any compromise on safety.
How to Take Precaution
The electrical wiring in the pandal should be well-organized and certified. Only authorized and trained personnel should be allowed access to the meter cabin. Always use high-quality wires and switches for electrical connections. In an emergency, there should be a provision to shut off the entire pandal's power with a single switch. Use only high-quality insulation tape to join broken wires. The area near the meter and switches should always be kept clear for quick access in case of need. MSEDCL has urged everyone to take special care to ensure that the electricity consumption in the pandal does not exceed the approved load.
Help is Always Available
For immediate assistance in emergencies, MSEDCL has provided 24-hour toll-free numbers: 1912, 1800-233-3435, and 1800-212-3435. You can also reach out by giving a missed call to 022-50897100. Committee officials have been appealed to keep the mobile numbers of the local MSEDCL engineer and 'Janmitras' handy.
Deposit Amount: Simple Process, Quick Refund
For a temporary electricity connection, committees will need to pay a deposit amount based on their approved load. If this amount is paid online, the remaining balance will be refunded without any delay after deducting the electricity bill amount once the festival is over. This eliminates the wait for the refund and makes the process more convenient for the committees.
With this initiative, MSEDCL has also appealed to everyone to take a collective pledge for safety to make this year's festival safe and joyous.
