Nagpur: A 29-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by his neighbours after he repeatedly harassed and abused his elderly parents over their inability to arrange his marriage in Nagpur’s MIDC police station limits.

According to the police, the complainant, Akash Prakash Dandge (29), a labourer employed in the MIDC area, lives on rent with his parents at Ward No. 1, Digdoh Devi, Hingna Road. Originally from Dhanora in Buldhana district, Akash had reportedly been pressuring his parents to get him married and would frequently pick fights with them whenever a marriage proposal did not materialise.

On the evening of July 19, Akash allegedly returned home from work in an intoxicated state and again started abusing and quarrelling with his parents outside their residence.

Hearing the commotion, a neighbour identified as Rohit Vishwakarma (around 30), along with two associates, allegedly intervened. During the confrontation, the trio allegedly abused Akash and assaulted him with a wooden stick, leaving him injured.

Akash was shifted to a government hospital for treatment. Based on his complaint, MIDC Policeregistered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing hurt, assault, intentional insult, use of obscene language and acts committed with common intention.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
