Nagpur: The Nagpur Rural Police’s Anti-Narcotics Squad has busted an illegal drug supply operation in Kanhan and seized contraband, cash, a vehicle and other valuables collectively worth ₹3.63 lakh. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against the accused.

The action was carried out on July 21, 2026, when the Anti-Narcotics Squad was patrolling the Kanhan subdivision. During the patrol, the team received specific intelligence that Shorab Jabbar Ansari (40), a resident of Colony No. 3, Kanhan, Kandri, Parsheoni tehsil, Nagpur district, was allegedly selling intoxicating tablets from his residence.

Acting on the tip-off and after obtaining permission from senior officers, the police conducted a raid at the suspect’s house.

During the search, the team recovered 66 boxes of Pyon Spas Plus (Tramadol HCl) tablets, containing a total of 15,814 tablets weighing 7.907 kg. The police also seized two mobile phones, cash and a four-wheeler, taking the total value of the seized property to ₹3,63,020.

A case has been registered at Kanhan Police Station under Sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar, Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Mhaske, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Gaikwad (Kanhan Division).

The raiding team comprised Assistant Police Inspector Ajitsingh Deore (In-charge, Anti-Narcotics Squad), Police Sub-Inspector Pravin Bhimte, Head Constables Pravin Devhare, Prakash Thoke, Amol Nagare, Avinash Todsam, and Police Constable Anil Kharadkele.

Police said further investigation is being conducted under the supervision of senior officers to ascertain the source and distribution network of the seized Tramadol tablets.
