Nagpur: In a tragic incident, a two-year-old girl, identified as Hansika Parte, lost her life after being bitten by a highly venomous cobra at Lawa Dabha area near Nagpur a few days ago. The heartbreaking episode occurred when Hansika was asleep at home in the afternoon, and the snake bit her, leading to her untimely death.
Hansika’s parents, originally from Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh, had moved to Nagpur for daily wage work and were living in a small hut in the area. The family’s financial condition is extremely poor, and Hansika is survived by her three-year-old sister.
Taking note of their dire situation, members of the Wildlife Welfare Society decided to provide financial assistance to the grieving family. Society members, including Pankaj Badule, Nitish Bhandakkar, Kiran Bavaskar, Abhishek Sawane, Sahil Sharnagat, Lucky Khalode, Aditya Shastrakar, Ankit Marskolhe, and Khushal Kalbande, personally contributed funds and handed over the aid to Hansika’s parents.
The Wildlife Welfare Society, which does not receive any government funding, regularly helps snakebite victims from economically weaker backgrounds through members’ personal contributions. Secretary Nitish Bhandakkar said the organization aims to spread awareness and reduce deaths caused by snakebites.
Earlier this year, the society had also provided bicycles to two underprivileged children who had survived snakebite incidents, as part of its community outreach efforts.
