Nagpur: Two youths lost their lives following a fatal head-on collision between two motorcycles under the Gittikhadan Police Station limits late on April 1.

The incident took place around 10:35 pm on the road between White House Dhaba and Delhi Public School, near Sarathi Public School. The complainant, an Uber taxi driver passing through the area, noticed the accident and found three individuals seriously injured.

The injured were rushed to Max Hospital, where doctors declared Viru Shankar Chaudhary (24), a resident of Ganesh Nagar, Daba, dead on arrival. Another injured youth, Manish Mahipal Chavan (20), also from Ganesh Nagar, is undergoing treatment.

During preliminary inquiry, Manish informed police that he and Viru were travelling on motorcycle number MH-49 BA-8817 when the rider of another motorcycle (MH-31 ML-4987), allegedly driven at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, collided head-on with their vehicle.

The rider of the other motorcycle, identified as Sumit Sanjay Raut (19), a resident near Asha Balwadi, Hazaripahad, Nagpur, also succumbed to injuries during treatment at Mayo Hospital.

Based on the complaint lodged by Pradip Lankesh Rahangdale (23), a resident of Ganesh Nagar, Daba, Gittikhadan Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused rider. Further investigation is in progress.
