Nagpur: Kapil Nagar Police have registered a case of housebreaking and theft after unidentified miscreants decamped with cash and valuables worth ₹8.38 lakh from a locked residence in Dixit Nagar.
According to police, the incident occurred between 11 am on March 3, 2026, and 6:30 pm on April 1, 2026, within the jurisdiction of Kapil Nagar Police Station. The complainant, Mahesh Dayaldas Motwani (63), a resident of 250 Yajurved, Dixit Nagar, had locked his house and travelled to Bengaluru with his family to stay at his son’s residence.
During his absence, unknown accused allegedly broke the main door lock and latch, gained entry into the house, and stole ₹10,000 in cash from a bedroom cupboard along with gold ornaments, silver coins, and a diamond watch. The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at ₹8,38,000.
Based on Motwani’s complaint, Kapil Nagar Police have registered an offence under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against unidentified accused. Further investigation is underway and efforts are being made to trace the culprits.
