Nagpur: Three store managers of a Reliance Retail outlet were allegedly caught attempting to steal merchandise worth ₹3.20 lakh after alert security personnel intercepted them during a routine bag check in Nagpur. Bajaj Nagar Police have registered a case against the trio.
The complainant, Chandrashekhar Annaji Gotmare (49), a resident of New Manish Nagar, is employed as a Manager with Reliance Retail Limited, Nagpur.
According to the police complaint, the incident took place at the Reliance Smart Store in Suyog Nagar on May 12, 2026, around 10 pm.
The accused have been identified as:
- Ganesh Manohar Maske (38), resident of Cotton Market, Imamwada.
- Judviviyan Vijay Mariyan (39), resident of Martin Nagar, Jaripatka.
- Vaibhav Pathade (28), a resident of Nagpur.
Police said all three were working as store managers at the outlet.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly conspired to steal merchandise worth ₹3.20 lakhfrom the store. They allegedly packed the goods into bags and attempted to leave the premises.
However, during a routine security check at the exit, a security guard inspected their bags, discovered the merchandise, and detained the three employees before informing the management.
Based on the complaint, Bajaj Nagar Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of theft, criminal conspiracy, and acts committed in furtherance of common intention.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances of the alleged theft and whether any similar incidents had occurred earlier.
