Nagpur: A dispute that allegedly began over asking for kharra escalated into violence in Nagpur’s Koradi area, leaving a 22-year-old vegetable vendor with a fractured waist. Koradi Police have registered a case against the accused.

According to police, the incident took place around 10.30 pm on July 5 at Shivkrishnadham Slum near Box Cooler, Koradi Road.

The complainant, Abhishek Ramkrishna Vishwakarma (22), a vegetable vendor and resident of Shivkrishnadham Slum, stated that he and the accused, Vaibhav Parteki (22), are neighbours and know each other. Police said the accused has no previous criminal record.

Investigations revealed that earlier in the day, Abhishek’s elder brother Jitendra had an altercation with the accused’s brother Aniket over asking for kharra. The argument reportedly led to tension between the two families.

Later that night, Vaibhav allegedly confronted Abhishek. During the confrontation, the accused allegedly pushed Abhishek, causing him to fall to the ground. The fall reportedly resulted in a fracture to his waist.

The injured youth was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where he underwent treatment.

Based on the victim’s complaint, Koradi Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to voluntarily causing hurt and assault. Further investigation is underway.
