Three Men Booked for Brandishing Knife, Threatening Police and Obstructing Duty Near Yashwant Stadium in Nagpur

Nagpur: Dhantoli Police have registered a case against three men for allegedly creating public panic by brandishing a knife, threatening a police constable, and obstructing him from performing his official duties near Yashwant Stadium in Nagpur.


According to the FIR, the complainant, Police Constable Bhuvneshwar Mohod (28), was on Chetak Mobile night patrol duty on July 16 when the duty officer directed him to conduct patrolling in the area. At around 10.15 pm to 10.30 pm, while patrolling a lane behind Yashwant Stadium in Sangam Chawl, he allegedly found three men shouting loudly in a public place while one of them was openly carrying a knife, disturbing public peace.


When the constable asked them to leave the spot, the accused allegedly threatened him by brandishing the knife and warned him of assault. As the police attempted to detain them, the trio allegedly abused the constable, pushed him, and obstructed him from carrying out his official duties.


The accused have been identified as:


  • Sonu Kanhailal Kurwane (36), resident of behind Yashwant Stadium, Dhantoli.
  • Mangesh Ashok Pandey (45), resident of behind Yashwant Stadium, Dhantoli.
  • Rakesh Manikchand Gupta (32), resident of behind Yashwant Stadium, Dhantoli.


Based on the constable’s complaint, Dhantoli Police registered Crime No. 162/2026 under Sections 132 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act, Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.


Police have launched further investigation into the incident.
