Drunk Man Booked for Assaulting Wife With Stone in Nagpur; Mother Lodges FIR After Trying to Save Daughter-in-Law

Nagpur: A 34-year-old man has been booked by Gittikhadan Police for allegedly attacking his wife with a stone after she refused to give him money for liquor. The incident came to light after the accused’s mother intervened to protect her daughter-in-law and later filed a police complaint.


According to the FIR, the complainant, Rukhsana Begum Riyaz Sheikh (55), and the accused, Aslam Riyaz Sheikh (34), are mother and son and reside together at Qutubshah Nagar near Taj Kirana Store under the Gittikhadan Police Station limits.


Police said Aslam is allegedly addicted to alcohol and frequently returns home intoxicated, where he allegedly abuses and assaults his wife, Hina Aslam Sheikh (30).


On the night of July 16, the accused allegedly demanded money from Hina to buy liquor. When she refused, he allegedly began assaulting her. Seeing the attack, Rukhsana Begum stepped in to protect her daughter-in-law.


During the altercation, the accused allegedly picked up a stone from the roadside and struck Hina on the head, leaving her injured. She was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where she received medical treatment.


Based on the complaint, Gittikhadan Police registered Crime No. 489/2026 under Sections 118(2)and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).


Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
