Nagpur: The Nandanvan Police Station has arrested three men in connection with an attempt to murder case in the Nandanvan slum area, following a focused manhunt and technical surveillance.
The incident occurred on November 24, 2025, around 10 pm, when complainant Navy Devendra Ramteke (21) was speaking with his friend Priya alias Sapna Meshram (20). Priya had previously been acquainted with accused Sanket Gulabrao Wanjari (24) but had ended the relationship due to his alleged misconduct.
Police said Wanjari called Priya that night and, during a conference call, allegedly abused Ramteke. The phone was then handed over to co-accused Vaibhav Ashok Tannelwar (34), who also allegedly issued threats.
Later, at about 10.45 pm, Ramteke was standing near KDK College Road with two friends when Wanjari, Tannelwar and two associates confronted him. During the altercation, Tannelwar allegedly pulled out a sharp weapon and handed it to Wanjari, who attacked Ramteke on the neck with intent to kill. The victim sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a medical hospital.
A case was registered under Sections 109(1), 351(3), 296 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused had been absconding since the offence. Acting on specific inputs, police laid a trap and apprehended Wanjari, Tannelwar and Tushar Dilip Palaspure (25).
Preliminary investigation revealed that the trio are habitual offenders and are also wanted in a separate case registered at Wathoda Police Station involving serious offences. Further probe is underway.
