Nagpur: A late-night accident near Nandi Square, Yashodharanagar, left a family of seven injured when a speeding car rammed into their auto-rickshaw and fled the scene here, on Sunday, December 1.

The incident occurred around 12:30 am when the complainant, Farha Naz Mohammed Javed Sheikh (33), a resident of Bilal Nagar, Majri, was returning home with her family from a wedding ceremony in their auto-rickshaw (MH 49 E 5889).

According to police, as they were passing near the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana road, a car (MH 40 BL 2702) hit their vehicle at high speed due to reckless driving, causing the auto to overturn.

The complainant, her husband Javed Sheikh (47), her mother-in-law Khairunnisa (58), son Mohammed Zaid (18), daughters Ajeeba Naz (10) and Fatima (11), and niece Saifi Naz (10) sustained serious injuries. Bystanders rushed them to Mayo Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Based on the complainant’s statement, Yashodharanagar Police have registered a case against the unidentified car driver under Sections 281, 125(a), 125(b) of the BNS, along with Sections 134, 177, and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigations are on.
