Nagpur: Sakkardara Police have filed a case against a local resident for illegally confining cattle with the intent of slaughtering them. The raid was conducted late on Thursday night after a tip-off.
During routine patrolling around 10:26 PM on May 23, police received reliable information about cattle being cruelly confined at Plot No. 35 in the Bidipeth area. Acting on the tip, a team conducted a raid at the location and discovered five bovines cramped in unhygienic and inhumane conditions without food or water.
The animals were allegedly kept for slaughter by Rohit Ramdas Parteki (28), a resident of the same plot. The police seized the five cattle, estimated to be worth ₹50,000, and handed them over to the Ujwal Gaurakshan Bahadura shelter for care.
Based on a complaint by Police Hawaldar Rupchand Jaipurkar, Sakkardara Police have booked the accused under Sections 11(1)(c), (j), and (z) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
