History-Sheeter Ansari from Nandanvan Booked Under MPDA Act, Detained at Nagpur Central Jail

Nagpur: Acting on directives from the Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City, a notorious and repeat offender from the Nandanvan area has been detained under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act and lodged in Nagpur Central Jail on Friday, May 23.


The accused, Jainuddin Mohammad Rauf Ansari (38), a resident of Galli No. 3, near Badi Masjid, Hasanbagh Kabrastan, under Nandanvan Police Station limits, had a long criminal record involving serious offences such as armed robbery, attempted dacoity, illegal possession of weapons, physical assault, verbal abuse, theft, and house break-ins. A total of 12 criminal cases had been registered against him.


Despite earlier preventive actions, the accused continued his criminal behavior, spreading fear in the locality due to his repeated involvement in violent and unlawful activities.


Considering the threat posed by the accused, a proposal was submitted to the Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City, through the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sakkardara Division), the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), and the Additional Commissioner of Police (South Region), seeking action under the MPDA Act.


Following the recommendation, the Commissioner of Police issued an order to detain the accused under Section 3 of the MPDA Act. Accordingly, he was taken into custody on May 23, 2025, and lodged at Nagpur Central Jail.


Police said the action aims to ensure public safety and restore peace in the Nandanvan locality.
