Nagpur: Commuters using the west gate of Nagpur Railway Station are grappling with persistent waterlogging, despite there being no rainfall. The problem has surfaced during the ongoing redevelopment work, which passengers claim is adding to their difficulties instead of easing them.
Sources said wastewater generated at the worksite is allegedly being discharged directly onto the adjoining road rather than being diverted into proper drainage chambers. As a result, water accumulates frequently outside the station premises, creating muddy and slippery conditions for pedestrians and motorists alike.
The west gate, which handles heavy daily footfall, has become a trouble spot for thousands of passengers. Travelers have complained about unsanitary surroundings, traffic slowdowns, and the risk of slipping due to stagnant water, particularly during rush hours.
Railway and local officials have reportedly taken note of the issue and issued repeated warnings to the workers responsible. However, commuters argue that stronger enforcement and immediate corrective action are necessary to prevent the problem from recurring.
With redevelopment work still in progress, passengers have urged authorities to ensure proper wastewater disposal and drainage arrangements so that access to the city’s major railway station remains safe and hassle-free.
