Nagpur: MIDC police have registered a case against a 52-year-old truck driver for negligent driving, which resulted in the death of a sleeping laborer near Hanuman Temple, Amar Nagar.
The accused, Gangadhar Bhuraji Kewte, a resident of Wanadongri, Hingna Road, was reversing his Eicher truck (MH-40-Y-1638) around 8:30 PM on March 16 when he accidentally ran over a 30-35-year-old laborer sleeping nearby. The unidentified victim, wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans, succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Following a complaint by Ajay Shriram Urade (42), a resident of Vijay Nagar, Wanadongri, MIDC police have booked Kewte under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Further investigations are ongoing.
