Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, the Lakadganj Police and Crime Branch Unit No. 3 solved a brutal murder case within hours of discovering the victim’s body and arrested three accused persons. The operation highlighted the use of technology and coordinated police investigation in Nagpur.

According to police officials, on the morning of June 22, 2026, an unidentified male body was found in an isolated area near Itwari Railway Station in the Maldhakka locality under Lakadganj police station limits. The victim had sustained multiple serious injuries to the head and neck caused by a sharp weapon.

After receiving information, Lakadganj Police immediately reached the spot, conducted a panchnama, and launched an investigation.

SIMBA Technology Helps Identify Victim

Police initially attempted to establish the victim’s identity by questioning around 50 to 60 labourers and local residents from the area, but no one could identify him.

Investigators then used SIMBA (Smart Investigation Management Based Application), a technology-enabled system introduced by the Nagpur City Police Commissionerate. After uploading the deceased’s photograph into the application, police identified the victim as Abdul Rahim alias Rammu, approximately 38 years old, a resident of Shantinagar, Nagpur.

Police subsequently contacted his relatives and confirmed the identification.

Relatives’ Suspicion Leads Investigators to Accused

During questioning, the victim’s relatives expressed suspicion against Parshewar alias Ishwar alias Pelu alias Pappu, Santosh Patel, and their associates.

Acting on these inputs, Lakadganj Police and Crime Branch Unit No. 3 jointly intensified the investigation and detained the suspects within about an hour.

During sustained interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime.

Murder Allegedly Linked to Suspicion of Informing Police

According to the investigation, the accused and the deceased were known to each other and were allegedly connected through theft and housebreaking-related criminal activities.

Police said the accused suspected that Abdul Rahim was passing information about their illegal activities to law enforcement authorities. Driven by this suspicion, they allegedly planned the attack, took him to the Maldhakka area, and murdered him using a sharp-edged weapon.

Weapon Recovery and Further Investigation Underway

Police have arrested all three accused in connection with the case. Efforts are underway to recover the weapon used in the crime and collect additional evidence.

The investigation is continuing under Lakadganj Police Station.

Police officials credited the quick detection of the case to the guidance of senior officers of the Nagpur City Police Commissionerate, coordinated efforts of Lakadganj Police Station, Crime Branch Unit No. 3, and the use of technical investigation tools and rapid response mechanisms.
