Nagpur: In a citizen-friendly initiative, the Nagpur City Police successfully traced and returned 117 lost mobile phones worth ₹18.29 lakh to their rightful owners in Zone 3, covering several police stations across the city.
The operation was carried out under the jurisdiction of Kotwali, Tehsil, Ganeshpeth, Lakadganj, Pachpaoli, and Shantinagar police stations. To recover the missing devices, each police station formed a dedicated Mobile Missing Squad, consisting of police officers and staff members.
Using technical investigation methods and the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, the teams were able to track and recover a large number of missing mobile phones. During the investigation, some of the devices were traced within Nagpur city, while others were located outside the city and even in other states.
After completing the required legal procedures, police contacted the rightful owners and returned their recovered devices.
A special handover program was organized on March 10, 2026, at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3), Rahul Madane, where the recovered mobile phones were formally returned to their owners.

- Kotwali Police Station: 17 phones worth ₹3,08,000
- Ganeshpeth Police Station: 28 phones worth ₹3,67,000
- Tehsil Police Station: 3 phones worth ₹35,000
- Lakadganj Police Station: 23 phones worth ₹4,04,999
- Pachpaoli Police Station: 42 phones worth ₹6,46,000
- Shantinagar Police Station: 4 phones worth ₹68,600
Total: 117 mobile phones recovered worth ₹18,29,599
Citizens expressed gratitude to the police department for helping them recover their lost devices.
Officials stated that the Nagpur City Police remain committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and protecting their property, and similar recovery drives will continue in the future.
The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, and Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) Rajendra Dabhade.
