Nagpur: A tragic accident on the Butibori-Tuljapur National Highway claimed the life of an 18-year-old youth after a Mahindra 700 car fell off a flyover near the T-Point in Butibori here, on Friday, March 14. The incident occurred at the intersection of the Nagpur-Hyderabad National Highway and the Butibori-Tuljapur Highway.

According to preliminary investigations by Butibori Police, the driver mistakenly took the flyover leading towards Chandrapur instead of heading towards Nagpur. Upon realizing the mistake, the driver panicked, lost control of the speeding vehicle, and crashed into the flyover railing, causing the car to plunge approximately 20 feet below.

The deceased has been identified as Arinjay Abhijit Shravane (18), while his sister, Akshata Abhijit Shravane, sustained critical injuries. Three other passengers—Saksham Bafana, Himanshu Bafana, and Manas Badani (all around 20 years old)—residents of Gandhi Chowk in Nagpur’s Sadar area, were also in the car.

The group had traveled to Wardha for a Holi gathering. On their way back to Nagpur, they picked up Arinjay and Akshata. The accident occurred when the driver mistakenly took the Chandrapur-bound flyover, leading to the fatal crash.

Inspector Prataprao Bhosale of Butibori Police confirmed that there were five passengers in the car at the time of the accident.

The injured have been admitted to Kingsway Hospital in Nagpur for treatment. Police are investigating the incident further.
