Nagpur: The Nagpur Traffic Police led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Lohit Matani, conducted a dedicated workshop for auto-rickshaw drivers and their associations at the Traffic Children’s Park in Dharampeth on Friday, July 25. The event was chaired by DCP Lohit Matani and attended by Additional Commissioner of Police Madhuri Bawiskar.
Several senior officials from the traffic division, including Police Inspectors Kadam, Puri, Mirashe, Khandale, Pore, Pandey, Vasekar, Mohankar, and Deshmukh were also present at the workshop.
The primary objective of the session was to understand the concerns faced by auto-rickshaw drivers and to encourage them to strictly follow traffic regulations and adopt a uniform dress code. Drivers were also guided on how to improve their services and public image in order to compete with e-rickshaws and cab aggregators in today’s competitive transport sector.
During the session, DCP Lohit Matani assured the participants that the department would take steps to address their issues. He immediately held a meeting with all traffic police inspectors to issue instructions for maintaining disciplined auto-rickshaw operations in the city.
The program also featured a detailed briefing on traffic rules and road safety by Atul Agarkar from the Road Safety Team, who anchored the event proceedings.
The Traffic Department has appealed to media outlets to disseminate this message widely to raise public awareness and promote road safety among citizens.
