Nagpur: In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening public trust, Zone 1 Police led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) S Rushikesh Reddy, returned stolen property worth ₹87.69 lakh to rightful owners under Zone-1 jurisdiction on Saturday, October 18.
The recovered items — including two-wheelers, gold ornaments, mobile phones, cash, and other valuables — were handed over after completing all legal formalities in a special ceremony held under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal.
The program was organised under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-1, covering police stations of Wadi, MIDC, Hingna, Pratap Nagar, Bajaj Nagar, and Sonegaon. A total of 51 citizens received their belongings back during the drive.
According to data shared by the department, property recovered and returned included — 19 cases from Wadi Police Station, 5 from MIDC, 1 from Hingna, 20 from Pratap Nagar, 3 from Bajaj Nagar, and 10 from Sonegaon Police Station — collectively amounting to ₹87,69,100.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City, emphasized that “winning citizens’ trust is the foremost duty of the police. Initiatives like returning seized property not only ensure transparency in the justice process but also strengthen the bond between the police and public.”
The ceremony commenced with the slogan “Public Trust, Police Responsibility.” Several citizens and members of the media attended the event in large numbers. The initiative received appreciation from all quarters, being hailed as a model example of transparency, accountability, and community-oriented policing.
