Nagpur: In a major late-night operation, Nagpur Rural Police raided an alleged rave party underway at Tiger Eco Resort in Temburdoh village, Saoner taluka, around midnight on Wednesday, June 11. The action led to the detention of 18 individuals, including nine women — eight of them dancers — and nine men, along with one female associate.

Among those detained are the resort owner Vishal Madhukar Ingole (39), and Nagpur residents Amit Shantaram Apareja, Sanjay Anandrao Thapolkar, Sachin Sahebrao Patil, Manish Kailas Deshmukh, Nitin Ramesh Kokarde, Dilip Dharma Shahu (34), Vinod Lahanhuji Mohje, and Kisan Maniram Yasne.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Anil Maske carried out the raid. Inside the resort, police recovered narcotic substances including charas, ganja, and MDMA, in addition to evidence of gambling activities.

According to police sources, some of the women were found dancing in revealing outfits, while cash was allegedly being thrown at them during the event. The party reportedly concluded earlier than scheduled after the resort owner was tipped off about a possible raid. However, police managed to detain the participants before they could disperse completely.

Interestingly, although the operation was reported under Khapa police station jurisdiction and linked to PI Vishal Giri, official sources confirmed that neither PI Giri nor his team were part of the operation, and the incident was not entered into the station’s diary. This lack of documentation has raised questions over procedural transparency within Nagpur Rural Police.

Instead of filing charges under rave party or narcotics laws, Khapa Police have registered offences under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, Sections 3 to 7, along with applicable provisions of the POCSO Act and Section 143 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Reports also indicate that the detained women were brought to the resort in private vehicles.

So far, four men — Vishal Ingole, Amit Apareja, Sanjay Thapolkar, and Sachin Patil — have been arrested, while the others were released with formal notices.

The incident has sparked serious concerns over the manner of policing and handling of sensitive cases in rural Nagpur, especially in light of the missing entries in the station register.
