Election schedule announced for 15 municipal councils and 12 nagar panchayats across Nagpur district
Nagpur, November 5: With the State Election Commission announcing the schedule for municipal council and nagar panchayat elections, the Nagpur district administration has declared full preparedness to ensure the polls are conducted in a free, fearless, fair, and transparent manner. The assurance was given by District Collector and District Election Officer Dr. Vipin Itankar during a press conference held at the District Planning Building in Sadar on Tuesday.
Addressing the media, Dr. Itankar said that meticulous planning and coordination have been put in place to facilitate smooth and impartial elections across the district. The meeting was attended by Rural Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar, Chief Executive Officer Vinayak Mahamuni, Resident Deputy Collector Anup Khande, along with all sub-divisional officers, tehsildars, and chief officers of municipal councils and nagar panchayats.
Election Schedule Announced
As per the notification, the process for filing nomination papers will begin on November 10, 2025, and continue till November 17, 2025. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on November 18, 2025.
Candidates may withdraw their nominations till November 21 in constituencies with no appeals, and till November 25 in areas where appeals are filed.
Polling will be held on December 2, 2025, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, while vote counting will begin at 10 am on December 3, 2025, at all designated centers. The Model Code of Conduct will cease to be in effect immediately after the declaration of results in the respective municipal council and nagar panchayat areas.
Appeal to Voters
Dr. Itankar urged all eligible voters in the district to actively participate in the democratic process by exercising their right to vote.
“Your participation strengthens democracy. Encourage others in your locality to step out and vote. Together, we can make this election a success,” he said.
Over 4,400 Officials to be Deployed
A total of 546 members will be elected through these local body elections, covering 374 wards across the district. As per the draft voter list, the total number of voters is estimated to exceed 7.32 lakh.
For the smooth conduct of the elections, 27 Returning Officers and 27 Assistant Returning Officers will oversee the process. Around 4,455 officials and staff members will be deployed across various election duties to ensure seamless execution and security at polling stations.
