Nagpur: In a proactive step towards improving urban traffic management, the Nagpur Traffic Department launched the ‘Traffic Mitra’ initiative on February 21, 2025. This initiative enables citizens to report traffic violations, congestion, parking issues, and encroachments via WhatsApp at 8976897698.

On the first day itself (February 22, 2025), the initiative received a strong public response, with 209 complaints lodged. Out of these, the Traffic Department successfully resolved 153 complaints within the same day. These included 62 cases related to traffic issues, 17 related parking issues, 65 complaints regarding challans and violations, and 9 encroachment concerns.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Archit Chandak has urged citizens to continue engaging with this initiative by reporting any traffic violations via WhatsApp. To ensure swift action, complaints should include photographic evidence, along with the time and location.

Cops emphasize that the ‘Traffic Mitra’ program is a public-driven effort to enhance traffic discipline, safety, and smooth movement across Nagpur City. Citizens are encouraged to contribute to this initiative by reporting concerns to WhatsApp Number: 8976897698.
