Nagpur: Nagpur City Police have reported significant success in their special anti-narcotics campaign conducted in June 2026, with the number of NDPS cases, drug seizures, and action against traffickers witnessing a sharp rise within just one month.
The campaign was carried out under the guidance of the Commissioner of Police, Nagpur City, and focused on curbing the sale, transportation, and supply of narcotic substances through sustained enforcement and intelligence-based investigations.
According to official data, NDPS cases increased from 199 at the end of May 2026 to 425 by the end of June 2026, marking an increase of 226 cases (113.57%) in just one month.
The total value of narcotics and related property seized also rose sharply from ₹3.11 crore to ₹6.93 crore, an increase of ₹3.82 crore (122.83%).
The campaign also recorded substantial gains in action against commercial quantities of Mephedrone (MD). Compared to June 2025, the number of commercial MD cases increased from 8 to 14, registering a 75% rise.
Similarly, the quantity of MD seized increased from 1.680 kg in June 2025 to 9.254 kg in June 2026, representing an approximately 451% increase, or more than 5.5 times the previous year’s seizure.
Police attributed the success to intensive investigations targeting the entire narcotics supply chain. Officers conducted backward and forward link analyses, examined financial transactions, monitored habitual offenders and recently released prisoners, and pursued intelligence-led operations against drug traffickers. These efforts resulted in major seizures of both Mephedrone (MD) and ganja, dealing a significant blow to the city’s illegal drug network.
Nagpur City Police reiterated their commitment to creating a drug-free society and stated that similar special drives will continue in the future, with strict legal action against drug traffickers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
