Nagpur: Following the instructions of Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil, a Pipping Ceremony was organised across the city to honour recently promoted police personnel, with a special ceremony held at the North Region Office for 11 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) who were promoted in service.
The promoted ASIs attended the event along with their family members, making the occasion a memorable celebration of their dedication and years of service. Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) Vinita Sahu personally led the pipping ceremony, formally adorning the officers with their new rank insignia.
Similar ceremonies were simultaneously organised at the Nagpur Police Commissioner’s Office, all regional offices and the offices of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), where promoted personnel were felicitated in the presence of senior officers.
The initiative was undertaken to recognise the commitment and hard work of police personnel while reinforcing the importance of professionalism and service within the force.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional CP Vinita Sahu said that such ceremonies are more than a formal promotion process—they serve as a powerful source of motivation for police personnel. She said that public recognition of an officer’s dedication strengthens morale, instils pride in wearing the uniform, and inspires officers to perform their duties with greater responsibility and commitment. She also noted that involving family members in the ceremony acknowledges the sacrifices they make in supporting police personnel throughout their careers.
The Nagpur Police said the pipping ceremonies reflect the department’s emphasis on encouraging its personnel and fostering a culture where dedication, discipline and sincere service are recognised and rewarded. Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre Patil, the department has been focusing on initiatives aimed at enhancing the morale and motivation of its workforce while promoting a people-centric and professional policing culture.
