Nagpur Police Crack Down on Illegal Liquor Sales, 25 Booked

Nagpur: The Nagpur City Police conducted a large-scale crackdown on illegal liquor sales across all police station jurisdictions on April 20, 2026. The special operation targeted individuals, establishments, and open rooftop venues involved in unlawful alcohol distribution.


During the drive, police registered 25 cases against 25 individuals and seized liquor and related materials worth ₹53,025. Authorities also checked absconding offenders, recently released prisoners, and individuals previously booked under the Arms Act.


In a separate action under the NDPS Act, police registered 1 case against 3 individuals and seized narcotic substances worth ₹48.7 lakh. Additionally, under the Gambling Act, 2 cases were registered against 2 individuals, with a total seizure of ₹12,665.


Traffic Enforcement Action


Nagpur Traffic Police also carried out strict enforcement under the Motor Vehicles Act. A total of 3,045 drivers were penalized for drunken driving and other violations, and ₹2,76,700 was collected in fines.


Police officials stated that such operations will continue and urged citizens to follow traffic rules and carry valid vehicle documents while driving.
